Personal Experience & Biography
Aimee Monterrosa is a licensed social worker, therapist, and passionate advocate for challenging mental health stigmas in communities of color. Aimee has nine years of experience working in the field of mental health, domestic violence, and substance use. I am a graduate of the master’s program at the USC School of Social Work with an undergraduate background in Psychology from CSUDH. I am bilingual in Spanish. My goal is to make therapy accessible, effective, trauma-informed, and person-centered. Aimee’s belief is that anyone can rebuild, redeem and heal themselves when given the proper tools and space to reconnect to a healthy self-image, genuine self-love, and a driven personal purpose. Aimee specializes in learning to heal and managing symptoms related to trauma including domestic violence and sexual abuse, in addition to learning to work through depression, anxiety, and PTSD. Aimee has a background in substance use recovery and planning for major life transitions like divorce, grief and loss, and post-graduate plans. In my practice, Aimee utilizes, EMDR, CBT, Solution Focused Therapies, and Narrative Therapy in a coaching style to help my clients feel empowered and engaged to rewrite the course of their life stories and give purposeful meaning to their experiences.
